Swenor rollerskis, from Norway, are the go-to choice for cross country skiers when they pick their dryland gear. They make models for skate or for classic rollersking I've narrowed down my top picks from the Swenor lineup as well as a couple other good pieces of gear to help you get through your summer volume. Lets start with Skate rollerskis:
My #1 recommended Swenor skate rollerski is the long-shaft aluminum version. Aluminum skis are lighter than their composite counterparts and are unrivalled in terms of durability and reliability. I recommend the LONG version because the longer wheelbase (63cm) gives a more realistic balance point and better stability. Fenders included. Bindings are purchased separately. An EXTRA LONG version is also available with a 67cm wheel base. This gets you 5 cm closer to the balance point at the expense of being a bit heaver and less nimble than the next model on this list.
The normal length Swenor Skate Aluminium rollerskis are the most popular model from the Swenor arsenal! The aluminum body is lightweight, but also virtually indestructible. Ski clubs buy these for their fleets since they're lighter and easier to control than most other Swenor rollerski models. Comes in Swenor Yellow or in flashy Pink.
A very lightweight skate rollerski for kids under 12 years old. Easy to control so beginner skiers can love rollerskiing immediately. This ski uses small-sized 80mm x 24mm skate wheels, only available with #1 (Fast) speed for maximum fun! The shaft is 530mm - shorter than the standard aluminum Skate model.
Swenor`s flagship skate rollerski! Made from fiberglass and wood, these rollerskis are built to flex just like a real ski. These skis give you a more realistic snow feeling while dampening the vibrations of bumpy pavement. A smooth ride reduces fatigue so you can accomplish your workout objectives day after day. Recommended for, and very popular with, skiers who do a lot of rollerskiing, day after day!
Swenor`s flagship classic rollerski! The construction of the shafts allows a little bit of flex when you kick to simulate a real snow ski. Vibration is also dampened over rough pavement so you can ski longer without getting tired feet and legs. Highly recommended if you rollerski day after day. This ski uses standard sized 70mm x 45mm classic wheels.
The most popular classic rollerski from the Swenor line! The Alutechs are more popular with ski club fleets owing to their durability. A great buy if you want a rollerski that may last longer than you will! Comes in Swenor Yellow or a just as flashy Pink.
An aluminium classic rollerski for kids. This ski uses smaller 40mm x 65mm classic wheels. The shafts are 640mm long making it great for youth to learn to classic rollerski without too much weight. Built with the same replaceable-fork design as the larger Alutech skis. Fitted with #2 wheels from the factory but can be switched to #1 (Fast) or #3 (Slow), same as the Swenor Tristar CL/Carbonfibre CL modles.
When it comes to choosing bindings for your rollerskis there's really only one choice: The Rottefella Rollerski Bindings. - beefed up screw-on rollerski bindings. These NNN skate bindings are perfect for the demands of rollerskiing. Hefty but light (~270g per pair) plastic construction can handle the heat from hot road surfaces on the sunniest summer days. Any ski pole can be converted to a "Rollerski" pole by switching the baskets. Rollerski tips are made of a super-hard carbide metal that resists wear when used on pavement. They still require sharpening from time to time but are a far cry better than standard steel tips normally equipment to winter pole baskets.
If you're looking to simplify your rollerski pole selection, these poles are pre-equipped with tips designed for use on pavement. Pre-designated rollerski poles are usually a flashy Hi-Viz paint colour as well!
Replacement wheels for both skate and classic models come in a variety of speeds. Check with us if you have any questions about compatibility. We recommend getting wheels assembled with bearings.
